Day 14: Traci Rowland

Ephesians 6:18
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

~
Recently, the Lord has been speaking to my heart about prayer.  You see, I speak with Him daily, all day long.  It’s as if He and I are in a continual conversation.  But He is reminding me that it is just not enough.  He is nudging me in one situation after another to just stop and pray for people and over people.

A couple of weeks ago, I walked into the school to drop off the Grace Chapel Christmas baskets.  The minute I walked in to the office, two women immediately stood up and came over to me, they wrapped their arms around me and began to cry, telling me about all that was going on in their lives.  I had a choice to make; I could have said, “I’ll be praying for you”, or I could actually pray for them, then and there!

In the haste of our busy lives, the first option seems to be the easiest, but ‘easy’ is not what the Lord has been asking of me lately. So, I asked them to share their hearts with me and then asked if I could pray over them right there in the school office. Please know, this is not an easy thing for me to do, but I felt the Lord’s nudging. Not only did they say ‘yes’, but they grabbed my hands while I prayed over them both.

As I was getting ready to leave, they said that they were blessed by my prayers, and it was at that moment I realized that I was the one who was blessed!  Blessed that they would invite me into their lives and their hearts and trust me to go to the Lord on their behalf.

The Lord wants to be part of our lives, day in and day out. Not just in our prayer closets, but in the schools, in the hospitals, in the supermarket, and everywhere else people are broken or hurting. I encourage you to listen to Him; be His voice, His hands, and His feet wherever He places you. You will not be disappointed!

"Dear Heavenly Father, Your word says that You will give us the strength we need when we are feeling weak. Please pour out your confidence on us to be there for people, to pray for them when they need it, to be an example of You so that they can draw closer to You. Amen"
