We’re very aware that Jesus is no ordinary person. Everything about Him, from His place in creation, His birth in to this human world and His rising from death, is nothing short of extraordinary!
“They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer… many wonders and miraculous signs were done… All the believers were together and had everything in common. they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts. Praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” — Acts 2:42-47
Focusing on God’s love is vast: because His love is endless. Worrying about the things that He hates is minimal: because those things are few. Seeking how to please God is crucial: because as people, we are prone to finding many ways to break His heart! Thankfully He is “slow to anger and rich in love...”
Our goals may be true, our journey “clear”, our motivations high and our efforts passionate, BUT the roadmap and path may be faulty! As such, in our search for meaning and fulfillment, we can exhaust ourselves with fruitless efforts that lead to frustration, discouragement and a sense of lonely faith. We’ll look together at what Titus and James teaches us about true efforts, focused vision and an enduring journey through community!
Sometimes in life, it's hard to see beyond our present circumstances. As we take a closer look at the life of Habakkuk, we can see an example of how we can hold on to victory in Christ, no matter the obstacles we are facing
While we gratefully celebrate Independence from tyranny and physical oppression, our walk of faith is best described as a celebration of Dependence!
Message series based on the beatitudes of Matthew 5.
Beatitude simply means “happy” or “blessed”. Jesus desires us to be “happy” more than we desire happiness! Over the next several weeks, we’ll look at each possibility of “happiness”, as also taught through several parables Jesus used to demonstrate this new path to true earthly and eternal blessings! So, if we are living the “happy/blessed” path Jesus lays out for us, it will “show” through us AND truly fulfill us!
What does Jesus expect from me?
He is the King of Love, but also the King over expectations.
We'll look at how we “live up to” what Jesus wants from us, all the while staying in relationship with us!"
We just celebrated the Resurrection! WOW! What a powerful time!
But as we track a little bit further, what happens next?
What about the disciples? What about us?
Where do we as disciples go from here? So, what now?
God has a definitive character and nature... and so do we! Our human character is generally flawed and usually shown in behavior through circumstance and situation.
The question is: what nature do we reflect? Human character or God’s character?
The odds are that we struggle with one, strive for the other and at times tend to fall somewhere in between!
The good news is that the Holy Spirit is the great deliverer of God’s character to us. As followers of Jesus, we have the awesome privilege of receiving and emulating His nature over our own.
